Story of Cadmus

"Cadmus is believed to be the legendary Phoenician that founded the city of Thebes.

When he was charged with following a special cow, he followed the sacred animal and when it stopped and grazed, he founded the city of Thebes. Those who followed him, were challenged with sourcing water for the city of which he was to create. Once they had found a water source suitable, they were slain by a water-dragon. Cadmus then destroyed the water-dragon in honor of those who followed him. Once slain, Cadmus was instructed by Athena to plant the dragons' teeth in the dirt. Once he sowed the dragons' teeth into the ground, a race of fierce armed men arose.
